All of my speakers lock up every 24 - 48 hours. Is it just me?

I have other posts in this forum regarding my experiences, observations, and troubleshooting steps taken to date, but after reading many of your responses, and other posts, it appears that we all experience wildly differing things with these speakers.

I have all my speakers connected to my home router/AP via WiFi, which I was told was the simplest way (avoiding the MESH which could be causing some of my issues). I have set my router to a static IP assignment, so the speakers always have the same IP, but still, every 24 hours (or 48 if I am lucky) ALL the speakers will have locked up.

By "locked up" I mean:

The speakers have vanished from the LG app
The speakers can no longer be cast to from Spotify or Google Cast (tho sometimes will still advertise as a speaker in these services)
Even Bluetooth has locked up, devices cannot pair, and already paired devices cannot be heard. (also cannot switch between bluetooth and WiFi any longer)
The speakers DO respond to a network PING all the time.

Im feeling like I have it worse than most, yet I cant think how / why. My setup is simple, I have a single router / AP device (BT Smart Hub in the UK) and all my other devices in the home are rock sold. Its not a simple WiFi or even IP issue, as I can always PING the speakers.

Does anybody else share this behavior? Does anybody have any ideas what could be causing this ?

I'm tempted to try Ethernet connections, but I will need power-line adapters which will get pricey.

Re: All of my speakers lock up every 24 - 48 hours. Is it just me?

Hi Gareth, please have a read of the forum. The most recent posts address your situation exactly. I don't know why I feel compelled to repeat it... but, LG are aware of the issues with 'dropoffs'... there is a new firmware update in development to address this and to add new functionality to the system, including Google Home/Assistant integration and the latest Google Cast Multi Room features...

In theory the update will allow your speakers to operate using Googles Multiroom tech, rather than LG's mesh network (I'm open for correction).

This is great news, as not only does it address the current issues, but adds a level of functionality most users weren't even aware of when they bought the system.

I'm glad I could be of help

Thanks for the reply Paul.

I was aware of the pending update, in relation to adding full google cast / home support, but I didn't realise that the lock ups were being addressed, or even fully acknowledged.

Again... In theory those issues should be addressed by virtue of the fact that they are enabling the system to work on Googles Multi Room protocols...

Dont hold your breath if past history is anything to go by this update will still leave us with problems. Ive been puting up with eratic behavior of my speakers for so long it seems the norm. I may get full working connection of all speakers maybe once every couple of weeks. Sadly i make do.. ii have two speakers with no audio ports so chromecast audio wont do it for me. Good work lg.

I get the impression the update is for the google cast component only, I don't expect the overall stability of the speakers to change.

I was really curious to know if others have it as bad as me, or if my experience is particularly bad.

Re: All of my speakers lock up every 24 - 48 hours. Is it just me?

My lock ups or drop offs have been quite regular in a standard size house and 3 speakers scattered around off a Music Flow R1 connected directly to the router. I was lucky to get more than 3 days without losing a speaker in the app which also meant it wouldn't connect via Cast.
I renewed my Virgin Media (UK cable) contract last week and insisted on a new router, now have the superhub 3 (had 2) and all 3 speakers have remained connected for over a week.

Now theoretically there shouldn't be a difference as the Music Flow R1 should be the device sending the signal to the speakers and keeping them together but the new router has made a difference. Ok the R1 is in a slightly different position (moved by 2 inches and now flat not on side) and think the Superhub 3 is auto channel so maybe there's less interference allowing the R1 and the speakers to keep in contact so reducing the chance of dropping out.

I have seen others mention a new router sorting things out for them so it seems that the Mesh Network is very sensitive to interference etc. I would try options around that before investing in power lines.

Also, I'm not sure if LG are working on anything other than CAST updates, I suppose that depends on what they have decided about the future of the system, if they had a plan rather then just being pressured into the Google updates then there may be other fixes included.

Hope you manage to sort it

Im using the Mesh network (1x H7 connected directly to Router) and after manually selecting the 5GHZ band in the advanced settings of the app, its working pretty well for me.

Re: All of my speakers lock up every 24 - 48 hours. Is it just me?

I can't do anything to get them even slightly useable. I have an H3 wired to the network now to eliminate WiFi, it does the same. Every one of my 5 speakers will be crashed by the following morning if I've been using them the night before, for example.

Last night I rebooted my living room H3 and H7 to use them, and this morning they are gone. The H3 is ethernet and the H7 is wi-fi. I can ping both. Both are crashed, can't even toggle the mode using the button on the top. They now all do this.

Id like to do a full factory reset, but I don't think there is actually a process to do this?

Im having similar issues, one of my H4s wont even let me turn it off, and it seems to be messing with all the network, when this happens i cant change functiones in other speakers and the whole system crashes as just some of the speakers appear on the network. ANy ideas guys?

LOL are you serious? The paid groupie who has been posting on every thread for 2 years telling everyone how music flow is the best thing in his life, is now blaming someone for looking for help with an issue on a related thread?? Im sorry for invading your looser empire, didnt know it was so important for you xD

Re: All of my speakers lock up every 24 - 48 hours. Is it just me?

I have had lock-ups for months, and all speakers would generally go together, and would stop responding to button presses etc.

It may have been one speaker in particular, but i don't know which. I had them all connected to my main router / AP,. But this past week i connected one of them (an H3 ) with an Ethernet cable, and then re-added each of the other speakers. This causes them all to mesh with the H3 that has the cable in. Since then, no more lock-ups. Very odd.

That was around 6 days before the software update.

Re: All of my speakers lock up every 24 - 48 hours. Is it just me?

I have a similar problem, but it happens a lot quicker on my single H4 speaker. If a re-add the speaker in the app, it's found immediately and after re-entering the WPA key it's a matter of luck getting the thing connected. Once connected, it works fine for max an hour (sometimes it fails immediately after 10 seconds). Then the game starts over again.

Re: All of my speakers lock up every 24 - 48 hours. Is it just me?

I have the same issues with lockups. I actually just put a chromecast audio on the line in of my H7 and leave it set to the portable in.

I wasnt aware of this forum existing since the one at the LG site disappeared unannounced I had assumed that they were just abandoning them and have actually replaced a couple of mine I used a lot with basic passive speakers, an amp and chromecast audios.

Updating the musicflow app and will see if I can go a day without them failing.
