Still experiencing lack of stability...

I've been vocally patient about the update & now that we have it I am still confident in the progress... However, I am experiencing a new set of dropouts...

* I am still getting speakers dropping on and off the system... probably 90% of the time
* Allot of the time the cast icon is showing connection, without actually connecting
* It seems that I can only cast when I'm in the same room as the router... even though I have speakers throughout the apartment
* When I'm on the balcony, I can get a clear wifi signal, but the H7 I put out there cannot effectively connect to the rest of the devices, nor will it allow me to cast to it individually, even though there is just a window between it and the next speaker & it is less than 3m (10ft) from the wireless router.
* I have tried setting up groups via both Google Home & Music Flow apps... I prefer the MF app because it allows me to set volume per speaker & set surround sound etc... But neither seem to be stable.
* I keep seeing a grey text pop up at the bottom of my screen saying the network is unstable.

How does the speaker network work? Does it make its own wifi mesh, or does it share the wifi network? If its an audio mesh network, does it have one main speaker? Why is it that I can only connect while in the same room as the router & soundbar? I have moved all of my devices to 2.5ghz rather than 5ghz. Is there any particular channel I should be using? Am I missing anything with regard to the settings? I'm wondering if the composition of the block walls used here in the Middle East is effecting the network... maybe unusually high metal content????

I'd appreciate positive feedback from anyone who can help... I'm not going to stamp my feet or get over excited, just looking for solutions.

SH7 Soundbar (hard wired), H7, H3 x 4

Re: Still experiencing lack of stability...

Why did you move from 5 to 2.4Ghz? For me, 5Ghz seems a lot more stable. For me no drop outs so far. That may be because i moved to a new adress with a lot less neighbors. At my old flat, there where 20 wifi visible around me. Now its only 4 or 5...

Re: Still experiencing lack of stability...

I don't have any issues with other wi-fi interfering... But I will try it on the 5ghz band, thanks. Does it make any difference what channel I'm on?

Reason for moving to 2.5ghz was that it is supposed to be more stable over wider distances. 5ghz allegedly more powerful but over a shorter distance from the router.

Re: Still experiencing lack of stability...

Chromecast audio should allow you to individually set the volume for each speaker. I do not have multiple music flow speakers but I do have multiple Chromecast Audios in my house. You need to do this from the Google home by going into the devices menu and then clicking on the speaker icon in the group that you are casting to.

You should get a volume Bar for each speaker.

Re: Still experiencing lack of stability...

I've moved to the 5ghz band, but now the bedroom and balcony speakers don't show up... Also no options in the Google Home app to effect speaker volume...

I only have one music flow speaker so I can't really test for you what the volume bar count is for multiple music flow speakers.

Also my screenshot is from my Android device. I do not have any iOS devices. It is possible that the iOS version of Google home app is limited right now.

Re: Still experiencing lack of stability...

I was able to get the volume settings to work (but no surround sound)... I'm still not able to connect two of the speakers (probably due to their proximity to the router or main speaker)...

Re: Still experiencing lack of stability...

I have a similar problem, the speaker drops it's wifi connection without any reason. I have a single H4, loving every aspect of it (feature set, battery, build quality) expect the technical software problems I'm having with it.

Re: Still experiencing lack of stability...

Try connecting speakers individually to wi-fi network. Avoid using the mesh network. You will need to reset and unplug all music flows. Then plug and unplug after each wi-fi setup so the mesh network doesn't connect..

Re: Still experiencing lack of stability...

Isn't mesh network supposed to help with these kind of network issues? At least in theory. ☺️

Re: Still experiencing lack of stability...

I used to have my left speaker (out of 2 x H7) dropping sound while playing. Decided to try changing the channel (5 Ghz), and voila, problem solved! My right speaker is connected via ethernet cable, the left via MESH...

Suggest to try different channels to see if it works.

Re: Still experiencing lack of stability...

I have the las950 and 2-h5 (connected as surround sound group all in same room). Sound bar is directly plugged into airport router and the h5 are wireless. My sound bar would randomly shut off when using google play music app with the 5 ghz mesh network (sometime even halfway through the first song playing). This would cause everything to shut off including the h5s and loose the surround sound connection between the three (white dot on speaker showing instead of magenta). I eliminated the mesh network by connecting the h5 directly to wi-fi and so far no problems.

Re: Still experiencing lack of stability...

I'm gonna spend some time over the weekend setting up everything to work off the WiFi... HS7 will stay on the ethernet. Thanks all.
