not able to identify entire NAS song collection

lgmusicflow

I have a customer having an issue syncing the music files set on a PLEX DLNA server. Customer had 2 x H3 , 1 X H7 and R1 bridge. Music flow application can detect the DLNA server he set but won’t sync all the songs shared on it.

There’s around 8 thousand songs on the media server but the application can only detect up to 45 songs. DLNA server is working since he can see all the music files on the LG TV(55LA9700)
Already tried reinstalling the application and sync the music library but still have the same issue

Re: not able to identify entire NAS song collection

I have the same issue also using plex dlna. for me the sync runs forever. Every once in a while the sync will finish, but 95% of the time it doesn't.

Re: not able to identify entire NAS song collection

good luck trying to get this resolved with Lg. I have been asking them for over a month now and then cannot resolve or answer the issue.
My was the original thread and its still not sorted.
I recommend using plex and google cast as plex has a solid software platform.

Re: not able to identify entire NAS song collection

I have 18000 songs on a WD Cloud NAS storage, for me it was the same issue until I set on my router static IP to the hard drive and set daily refresh of the library.

Re: not able to identify entire NAS song collection

Same problem with WD MyCloud NAS storage. My library is only 3676 songs but Sync in LG Music Flow app only picks up 3356 songs.
Even within the 3356 songs it does detect, there are still some come up with the 'Cannot Play this File' error.
No problem playing the entire library direct from the NAS via other apps like WMP.

Re: not able to identify entire NAS song collection

Same problem as above with WD MyCloud does not pick up entire library so the music flow app becomes useless...... Pity because the speaker sound is very good but frustrating using it without a good app.....

Re: not able to identify entire NAS song collection

I have just purchased a H7 and have an issue with the Music Flow PC program only showing up 5547 out of 18000 music files on my Wd MyCloud. The sync is taking a long time to run and once it came up with an error 'storage insufficient on Music Flow device' or something like that. I hope that this is just a temporary problem as the reason I bought the speaker was to play from my MyCloud without a PC being switched on. I saw further up in this thread that someone was suggesting setting a static IP address to the network drive - is this worth a shot?

Re: not able to identify entire NAS song collection

I have had this problem since buying music flow speakers about 4-5 months ago. Nothing has been done to correct it as yet. It's the same app, with the same unreliability. It is almost useless. I can't rely on the music server even being visible from one logon to the next. Playlists won't play, music won't sync, etc

And they tell us that music flow lets us play seamlessly, and it's "music that never stops".

Please LG, tell us an update is coming, or confirm that we all have duds and should have bought sonos. How hard can it be to have a software app that actually reads and remembers the location of your music files so that it can play them?

I have been patient all of January, and now most of February. Enough already - tells us what l is going on please.

I guess these problems explain why the retailer I bought my LGs from seems to no longer stock them.

EDIT**** Apparently the update is coming end of February and it will be able to read NAS storage.

Thanks for your reply, Marc. It is almost the end of February - hope this update will sort out the NAS issue.

Now mid march. The update has come and gone. My WD NAS is seen, then not, synced, then not... What update has there been in this area?

Re: not able to identify entire NAS song collection

David, I'm still having similar issues to you, but I found setting static IPs for the speakers and bridge helped somewhat. I also never turn them off (ie, light is always green). That said, I have only 6000 odd songs and 10% still don't play (with the latest updates it can see them all at least). I can actually see in the logs that the ones that don't play seem to be a DLNA server problem though so I need to spend some time working out why thats the case.

Re: not able to identify entire NAS song collection

I've definitely seen an improvement from the recent software updates. I use the folders view a lot to be honest as the way media servers group and compile leaves a lot to be desired (and I can't be bothered fixing the meta data).

I also went through my logs and noticed that items and folder names containing non-alpha numeric characters were 99.9% of the time the ones that were failing to play. I went through and renamed anything wit for example [] or %& type characters to underscores and they are all playing now. I think that the problem was more likely the media server failing.

The only remaining quibles - I have a H7/h5/wireless bridge setup...

- Sometimes the speakers get out of sync with playlists and you find that even if you clear the playlist (itself a bit painful), the speaker wants to play its own thing. When I see that happen, I ungroup the speakers and regroup them swapping the master speaker around.
- The speaker grouping resets when you turn the speakers off. Would be nice if the app remembered the preference.
- I've occasionally had the speakers start playing in the middle of the night if I leave them on standby (ie, green lights).
- When you are browsing local media in the folders view, when you click back, it doesn't go back to the section of the list you were in, you have to scroll back down the list to get back to your position.

Other than that, these speakers were a bargain (I got the whole setup for 1/3 of retail and when it works its brilliant). I remain confident that the software will sort itself out in time (as it has been).

Re: not able to identify entire NAS song collection

The update has not made a difference in music flow seeing my entire music collection. It gets to about 5-6000 and then stops and displays the error about storage space on my music flow speaker. What exactly is the speaker storing? Would be nice if LG support replied!

Re: not able to identify entire NAS song collection

The update does allow you to view any DLNA servers by folder now, and this has made a huge difference for me. This is what has worked for me:

1. Stopped using Windows Media Player for my server
2. Stopped using LG PC app to sync library on PC
3. Stopped using the LG Library or servers in the apps, EXCEPT for accessing the new "folder" tab on the far right
4. I downloaded Media Monkey music player, and set the options to allow UPNP/DLNA music sharing
5. I can now access all my music via the folder tab, providing the PC is on and Media Monkey is running. I can make playlists on any device, and they are remembered on that device (so far), AND I can make playlists in Media Monkey and access them through the folder tab on any device.

This is all with the free version of Media Monkey - I plan on buying the gold version for more functionality.

I assume you should be able to access your NAS drive through the folder tab, if it has the correct settings (but I am not sure).

I can live with my set up, and actually prefer it to using LGs PC app which plays havoc on my CPU for some reason.

Hope this is of some help, as I now enjoy my music whenever I want to!
