Has LG Abandoned MusicFlow?

lgmusicflow

lgmusicflow

A number of posts on here are asking the same, where are the LG Reps? What is happening with the latest Update? When is the Google Cast update which was promised in October arriving? Why isnt my PC app updating correctly? Etc...

With no response from LG Reps and many retailers discounting the cost of LG Music Flow products I can only conclude LG have abandoned MusicFlow sad

I type this hoping that an LG Rep will comment and advise otherwise but I think that is as likely as all my speakers being visible after not using the system for 24 hours (in case you wondered, that is low)

RIP MusicFlow

Re: Has LG Abandoned MusicFlow?

I think we have to move on... I am thinking of Sonos.

Re: Has LG Abandoned MusicFlow?

Buy regular speakers and throw a Chromecast Audio dongle to them for WAY better support than Sonos. It's open, cheap and works across a wide variety of apps and platforms.

Re: Has LG Abandoned MusicFlow?

BTW, I bought the Sonos soundbar and then realized it's does not have an analog line in. I guess they were a step ahead of Apple. Needless to say it's not coming back in my house.

Re: Has LG Abandoned MusicFlow?

I think class action is warranted. They're defective, don't do as advertised, and we get no support

Developer J - the only LG employee I've ever seen here last posted 4 months ago. Safe to say this was a bad investment. Like all Korean tech companies - this one doesn't know the meaning of support and software updates either.

Re: Has LG Abandoned MusicFlow?

So I raised a support case on LG's website as below:

I'm not sure if LG are aware of the negativity towards the Music Flow product on the Music Flow Forums. https://getsatisfaction.com/lgmusicflow/topics?
There used to be comments by LG reps but there has not been any comment from anyone associated with LG for over 4 months so everyone is assuming, right or wrong, that LG have abandoned the LG Music Flow product.

if LG is still supporting / developing the Music Flow product then can I suggest that someone affiliated with LG posts on the forum confirming this, even if it is just to advise people to report faults/issues to LG using your official support website.

The response received within 24 hours is below:

Thank you for taking the time to contact us today and I will be glad to assist.

I am sorry that people feel that way, the only facilities that we provide support to are via Email,Web Chat and the phone. If anyone is having issues with there Music Flow products I would advise them to contact us via those facilities and we will be more than glad to assist in this situation. We will provide support to the utmost of our abilities for Music Flow products and as far as I am aware I have no real details on the release of future products in the Music Flow range but I of course have have nothing to state that we will not be doing more Music Flow products in the future.

I really do hope that I have been helpful today.

I leave you to draw your own conclusions from this.

it's a crock - they're good at pretending to follow up, but nothing actually gets resolved.

Re: Has LG Abandoned MusicFlow?

Thanks for the update. Their head of support - if they have one - is clearly unqualified and clueless if he feels that LG's own support forum exists for shi*ts and giggles.

Re: Has LG Abandoned MusicFlow?

I agree but have also noticed the URL of this forum has changed, it's no longer redirected from https://forum.lgmusicflow.com/lgmusic... but you have to put the "get satisfied.com" url instead.
https://forum.lgmusicflow.com/lgmusic... returns a "cannot be reached" page
More evidence that they've aborted the project.

Re: Has LG Abandoned MusicFlow?

LG promised Google Cast grouping update to come sometime in October. Since then they will not talk about it. Tomorrow is the last day of October. Tomorrow they will either keep this promise or go from poor support to nonexistent lying support.

Re: Has LG Abandoned MusicFlow?

Well, I'm going to take the support rep at his word and open a ticket asking for clarification on when google multi cast will be enabled. Will post back when I get the response.

Don't know why LG creates a forum for customers to complain about their products while providing 0 attempts at answering even simple questions. To me, as a customer it looks really bad and makes people want to buy Sonos, but hey, I'm not a business major and I guess I'll get a chance to pick up some H7s cheap when Music Flow fails due to all the negative comments.

More ranting:

LG, I really wouldn't mind if you just came out and said "The Music Flow product line is cancelled, it was a mistake and we aren't making any money on it future updates won't be forthcoming." I took a chance buying a product without multi room google cast support. These speakers all have line in, I'll just go buy a few google cast dongles and be good to go. I'll probably even pick up a few more H7s when they go on clearance since they are decent speakers if I can get them cheap enough.

But to just go dark like this is a real slap in the face to customers who paid good money at least partially based on comments by your own employees about features you were planning on adding. I get what you are doing, not officially announcing the product is dead lets you unload a few more to unsuspecting people before you have to write it off. But again, no business major here, but I promise you, for every dollar you save here unloading $200 dollar speakers, you're going to lose $10 because I'm never buying a $1000+ dollar LG appliance, phone, TV, you name it.

Re: Has LG Abandoned MusicFlow?

Well, you could try a BT transmitter, but that's going to be $30 bucks + another $30 for the chromecast itself.

I assume you have more then 1 of these, so it's getting pricey... plus who knows how good the BT transmitter will work.

Re: Has LG Abandoned MusicFlow?

My personal suggestion is to try a few wireless routers that you can return back to the store if you're not able to complete your set up. I tried several routers and then finally bit the bullet and bought a Google onhub router which was on sale for $140 and quite literally that thing changed all my house problems related to range and stability. you never know what might work for you before you go down the path of using a Bluetooth transmitter which will cut the Fidelity of your sound from your Chromecast to your speaker and half because of lossy compression and much lower bandwidth.

Re: Has LG Abandoned MusicFlow?

Oh my God! I feel your pain. I did not realize that LG would make any speaker without an audio jack. This is horribly unacceptable. Someone needs to stick a 10-foot pole into the only appropriate receptacle of the LG music flow product manager. Your speakers are almost completely useless now unless you can find that converter. Good luck and my condolences.

Re: Has LG Abandoned MusicFlow?

You may be able to botch something together with
https://www.amazon.com/Williams-Sound...
And
https://www.amazon.co.uk/3-5mm-Female...

But it's far from ideal
